Anyone who has seen Meet The Feebles or Avenue Q will already know that puppets can be kinda dirrty, but we’re surprised to hear that the Jim Henson Co. is planning to turn its squeaky clean Muppets into murderous n'er do wells.
Variety reports that Jim’s progeny Brian and Lisa Henson are plotting the Happytime Murders, a puppet comedy with a film noir detective spin.
Brian Henson, whose previous credits include Muppet Treasure Island and Empire fave A Muppet Christmas Carol, will direct a story a about a puppet detective who becomes embroiled in a murder case when the cast of a popular children's show, The Happytime Gang, are offed one by one.
To us, it rather sounds like the plot of Death To Smoochy but with added felt and googly eyeballs – and that can’t be a bad thing.
