Robert Altman set new standards in casting achievements with Gosford Park, putting together a universally high-calibre line-up featuring the absolute cream of Britain's dramatic arts. However, director David Barto may be in line to top even that celestial gathering with the cast for his debut sci-fi film, Absolon. Against all the odds, Barto has managed to sign British star Kelly Brook as the icing on the cake for his film, which already has such names as Lou Diamond Phillips and Christopher Lambert taking time from their busy schedules to appear in this sure-to-be-massive thriller. The film sees veteran French thesp Lambert star as a detective assigned to investigate the murder of an inventor who has discovered the cure for a deadly illness. A twist of fate sees Lambert injected with the last remaining dose of the cure, whereby he becomes a walking saviour and the only one who can cure mankind. Brook will play a mysterious femme fatale who tries to keep Lambert safe from Phillips' gang of heavies, intent on making sure the cure never sees the light of day.
