Benicio Del Toro has worked with writer/director Oliver Stone before, on crime thriller Savages. He'll step back in front of the camera for Stone on a new drama called White Lies.
Representing something of a change in pace for Stone, the new film promises an intimate exploration of family, loss, and love. Del Toro will portray a child of divorce now repeating his parents’ mistakes in his own marriage and with his troubled son. Feeling trapped, he embarks on a lust-filled journey to free himself, but only becomes more lost. When he meets a woman whose life is the opposite of his own, he begins a journey of rediscovery.
With the money in place, Stone is aiming to start shooting the film next spring in New York. As for Del Toro, he'll be part of the cast for Ben Stiller's miniseries Escape At Dannemora, which will show up across the pond in November on cable channel Showtime.
