With the Cannes Film Festival in full swing, the associated Cannes Film Market is also buzzing, with plenty of films touting their starry wares for interested buyers. One project up for grabs this year boasts the compelling pairing of United 93 and Bourne veteran director Paul Greengrass with one Benedict Cumberbatch, who is lined up to star in The Hood.
Greengrass wrote the script for this one, and while details are scarce at this point, we do know it'll be a period drama focused on the peasant revolt in England in 1381. Also known as Wat Tyler's Rebellion or the Great Rising, it a major uprising across large parts of England. Assuming, of course, that's the era Greengrass is focusing on.
Cumberbatch will reportedly play a farmer who becomes a leader in the revolt, and that title potentially teases a connection with a certain archer of endless adaptation, but A) that's far from known at this point and B) whatever Greengrass does with it, it's sure to blend his usual yen for political wrangling and action.
This will mark the director's return to filmmaking since News Of The World, while Cumberbatch most recently scored an Oscar nomination for his work in The Power Of The Dog and is on our screens now for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.
