Mike White hasn't directed a film since making his debut with Year Of The Dog, though he's been busy with TV projects, including a TV spin-off from School Of Rock. But while he's acted in several movies, he's stepping back behind a big screen camera for a new comedy he's written called Brad's Status, which will star Ben Stiller.
In a similar way that Stiller faced FOMO (that's Fear Of Missing Out for those of you who don't write entirely in acronyms) in The Secret Of Life Of Walter Mitty, the new film will find a man longing for something he doesn't have. In Brad's case, he's settled with a happy family and a solid career, but just can't stop obsessing with the much better fortunes of his old school friends. When he takes his son on a tour of colleges on the American East Coast, he finds himself face to face with them again and must confront his own feelings of failure, which leads to... Well, we'll have to see, won't we?
One other Brad is involved with this one – Pitt, who will produce the movie through his Plan B Entertainment company.
Stiller had a bumpy start to 2016 with Zoolander 2, but he pops up in Mike Birbiglia's Don't Think Twice as himself and has just worked again with Noah Baumbach on The Meyerowitz Stories.
