Ben Stiller Set For While We're Young

Ben Stiller and his Greenberg director Noah Baumbach might have left Mr Popper’s Penguins in the gurning care of Jim Carrey, but that’s because they were secretly planning to reunite on something else altogether. Vulture hears whispers that the pair is readying a new film called** While We’re Young**, which will also star newly-minted Oscar co-host James Franco.

Though it appears that both Stiller and Franco are fully attached, there are also offers out for female lead roles to Cate Blanchett and Greenberg’s Greta Gerwig, and we can’t imagine that, aside from possible scheduling issues, there’ll be much trouble getting them to sign on.

As for being able to tell you what it’s actually about? Well, that’s a trickier proposition, as the script is a tightly-kept secret right now. But the Vulture bods have heard that that it sees a freewheeling Brooklyn couple (Franco and Gerwig) bring a little joy and comic chaos into the lives of an uptight documentarian (Stiller) and his wife (Blanchett, if she agrees to the role). Not that tightly kept, then…

There’s no word on a schedule for this yet – and since no official statements have gone out about it, we’re going to let it drift in that misty zone between rumour and an actual project likely to hit your screens in the near-distant future until there's solid confirmation.
