Ben Stiller could be teaming up with Mark Romanek for pitch black comedy The Voices, which the director has been developing for his next gig.

Written by Michael R Perry, [{href='http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=26748' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'}), Voices landed on the Black List as one of 2009's best unproduced scripts.

The strange premise sees a man named Jerry Hickfang accidentally killing a co-worker and then hearing advice from an unlikely source - his cat and dog - on how to avoid the trouble that comes with murder.

Romanek has been letting the script simmer while he finishes up work on his latest directing job, an adaptation of Kazuko Ishiguro's alternate history tale Never Let Me Go, and is looking to turn to The Voices when he's ready to kick off a new film.

According to Slash Film, Stiller could be the man for the job - though it's still just rumour at this point.
