They've never shared a screen together in the Star Wars universe, but Daisy Ridley and Ben Mendelsohn are both now part of the cast for Neil Burger's next film, psychological thriller The Marsh King's Daughter.

Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith adapted Karen Dionne's bestseller for the script. Ridley will star as Helena, a woman living a seemingly ordinary life, but hiding a dark secret: her father (Mendelsohn) is the infamous “Marsh King,” the man who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for years. After a lifetime of trying to escape her past, Helena is forced to face her demons when her father unexpectedly escapes from prison.

This sounds like an ideal role for Mendelsohn, who has turned in memorably complex villainous characters in the past. Burger should have the cameras rolling next month in Canada.
