Neither Ben Kingsley nor Monica Bellucci are strangers to the spy genre, and they're both now part of a new movie which will feature counterespionage. They've agreed to star in Spider In The Web.

Eran Riklis is directing the film, written by Gidon Maron and Emmanuel Nakkache. Spider follows an aging secret agent called Adereth, a man with a much-lauded past (Kingsley) who is now considered past his prime by his bosses.

When a young operative known as Lebanon (Italy Tiran) is sent to track him down, an enigmatic woman played by Bellucci blurs the lines. It's apparently inspired by true events and will kick off shooting in Belgium and the Netherlands this spring.

Spider is an intimate story, depicting the complexities of trust, loyalty and betrayal," Riklis tells Variety. "It explores my central universal motifs of self-discovery and identity, in a contemporary-set thriller mirroring current geopolitics."

Kingsley has several films on the way, including The Red Sea Diving Resort and Nomis, while Bellucci is at work on a thriller called Nekromancer.
