The ever-expanding X-Men cinematic universe now includes Walford. Don’t go expecting to see Magneto rock up and order a pint at the Queen Vic, though: Bryan Singer has EastEnders' Peter Beale – better known as actor Ben Hardy – in talks for a mysterious key role in X-Men: Apocalypse
Unusually for the movie, the news didn’t come via Singer himself but from The Wrap’s sources, although they couldn't provide the actual part that Hardy will take. They did learn, however, that he tested for the film's take on Cyclops, a role that eventually went to Tye Sheridan, before being rumoured as Angel. But now it appears he’s won another key role.
Set in the early 1980s, Apocalypse finds the **First Class **crew – James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult – joined by younger versions of Storm, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Jean Grey, played by Alexandra Shipp, Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Sophie Turner, alongside returning First Class veteran Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert and, most likely Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. They have to join forces to combat the threat from the powerful mutant Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac.
Singer will start the cameras rolling this April in Montreal with X-Men: Apocalypse due out on May 19, 2016.
