With Anne Hathaway and Willem Dafoe already in place, Mudbound director Dee Rees has not rested on her laurels building the ensemble for her new drama, The Last Thing He Wanted. Ben Affleck, Toby Jones, Rosie Perez, Ed Gathegi and Mel Rodriguez are joining the cast.
Adapted by Marco Villalobos from Joan Didion's 1996 novel, The Last Thing He Wanted focuses on journalist Elena McMahon (Hathaway) who delves into the Iran Contra Affair and finds herself on dangerous ground as she investigates shady drug deals and government corruption. Deadline's report offers no information as to who the new cast members will be playing in the film.
Rees has the cameras rolling already in Puerto Rico, and she's already got a deal with Mudbound distributors Netflix to release the movie next year.
