In February last year, word arrived that Robert Rodriguez was in the early stages of a new thriller movie, called Hypnotic. Fast-forward to today, and he has Ben Affleck on to star.

Hypnotic, which at one point has Pacific Rim's Max Borenstein writing a draft of the script, has since undergone a rewrite by Rodriguez. Affleck will be a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program, while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists.

The trickiest part of putting the pieces together is working around Affleck's busy schedule. He's about to start shooting Deep Water opposite Ana de Armas, before a planned segue to Ridley Scott's The Last Duel, which is looking to kick off early next year. As of right now, Rodriguez wants to be filming Hypnotic in April, but the dates may need to be juggled.
