He may no longer be stepping behind the camera for The Batman, but that just frees Ben Affleck up to take other work. He's now, according to The Tracking Board, in early talks to call the shots (and explosions) for war movie Red Platoon.
Sony has the rights to Clinton Romesha's memoir, which chronicles his experiences during the Battle of Kamdesh, in Afghanistan. On Oct. 3, 2009, more than 300 Taliban fighters launched a predawn raid on Outpost Keating, a remote and controversial American outpost near the Afghan-Pakistani border, overrunning its perimeter defenses and breaching its wire. Staff Sgt. Romesha, a husband and father of three children, planned and led a small band of soldiers in a counterattack against seemingly insurmountable odds, saving dozens of American lives, and ultimately receiving the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions.
According to the story's sources, Affleck is looking to have recent Oscar winner (and younger brother) Casey take the lead role, which would make the second collaboration between the pair following 2007's Gone Baby Gone. But it's still at that early stage of development, so we'll see if it all moves forward.
Affleck will be back in front of cameras as Bruce Wayne in Justice League, which is arriving on 17 November.
