Ben Affleck's having a good year so far, with Air successful and his upcoming (albeit likely brief) return to Bruce Wayne in The Flash. He's no doubt hoping for another hit with Hypnotic, a thriller that Robert Rodriguez has been aiming to get to screens for nearly two decades. The trailer is online…

In the story originally written by Rodriguez and worked on by Max Borenstein, Affleck plays Danny Rourke, a detective determined to find his daughter with the aid of psychic Diana Cruz (Alice Braga), whose investigation will lead him to question his most basic assumptions about his world and everyone in it.

Rourke finds himself spiraling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending bank robberies puled off by a mysterious, hypnotic character played by William Fichtner.

The ensemble includes: JD Pardo as Rourke’s partner, Nicks, Hala Finley as his missing daughter, Minnie, Dayo Okeniyi as tech wiz/conspiracy theorist, River, Jeff Fahey as Carl and Jackie Earle Haley as the reclusive expat Jeremiah. Hypnotic will be in UK cinemas from 26 May.
