Bringing a true-life story to the screen worked out well for Aaron Sorkin with his last film, The Trial Of The Chicago 7. He's back in based-on-real-life territory for his next awards-potential offering, Being The Ricardos, which finds Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem playing TV icons and husband-and-wife team Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Check out the teaser...
Ball and Arnaz were famously the stars behind the groundbreaking and classic 1950s television sitcom I Love Lucy, that focused on a happily married though seemingly mismatched couple – a flame-haired, accident-prone American housewife, and her sensible Cuban-American bandleader husband – that became the top-rated and most beloved show of the era. Being The Ricardos is set during one production week of the sitcom — Monday table read through Friday audience filming — when Lucy and Desi face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage...
It's a chance to really see how Kidman and Bardem take on the roles, bolstered by a supporting cast that includes JK Simmons, Tony Hale, Nina Arianda, Alia Shawkat and Clark Gregg.
The film will be on limited release in cinemas on 10 December ahead of hitting Amazon Prime Video on 21 December.
