She may be more known these days for squeezing into tight leather catsuits and kicking arse as vampire warrior Selene in the Underworld franchise, but Kate Beckinsale still likes to keep things varied on the cinematic front. She’s in negotiations to star in Eliza Graves, which has Brad Anderson attached to direct.
Joe Gangemi wrote the script, which loosely adapts Edgar Allan Poe’s 1845 short story, The System Of Doctor Tarr And Professor Fether.
Assuming she locks in a deal, Beckinsale will be Eliza, a patient in a mental institution which has been taken over by its inmates. She catches the eye of a freshly arrived Harvard Medical School graduate, a man who has no idea that the hospital is not quite what it seems...
Anderson, who has just had some success with Halle Berry thriller The Call, is gearing up to start shooting this June in Bulgaria, with Nu Image/Millennium providing the finance.
Beckinsale was last seen in Total Recall and has most recently shot legal drama The Trials Of Cate McCall.
