Audiences fell in love with Timothée Chalamet in Call Me By Your Name, and wryly shook their fists and rolled their eyes at him as a rubbish boyfriend in Lady Bird – and in Beautiful Boy he’s once again aiming straight at your heartstrings. The actor stars alongside Steve Carell as son Nic and father David Sheff respectively, adapting the real life father-son duo’s separate memoirs about Nic’s years of meth addiction, and David’s attempts to rehabilitate him. From the looks of the trailers, it’s going to be an emotional ride – and we’ve got a new image of the pair sharing a tender moment.
If you’re already welling up, you’re not the only one – there were plenty of tears on set too. “We started with one of the most horrific scenes [in the hospital],” director Felix Van Groeningen told Empire in the latest issue. “It was a lot for [Chalamet]. From day one, there were people in the crew crying behind the monitors.”
