For a long time, aside from a couple of pictures and a teaser, what we really knew about Baz Luhrmann's Elvis was the fact that Tom Hanks came down with Covid while shooting it. Banish those dark thoughts via a look at the full trailer, with Austin Butler playing The King (thankyouverymuch)...

The film explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Butler), seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Hanks, making a real accent choice here). The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the most significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).

Luhrmann of course knows how to shoot music, and he's not shy when it comes to glitzy style. A bigger question is how to contain everything about the music legend's life without resorting to miniseries.

We'll find out how it all worked out when Elvis lands on 24 June in the UK.

For more around the trailer, here's Luhrmann and Butler talking about the movie.
