As well as scripting the Night At The Museum film franchise, Robert Ben Garant is the co-creator and star of the Comedy Central cop show mockumentary series, Reno 911! Now, according to Vulture's "spies", he's set to direct the long-gestating movie adaptation of brightly-coloured beach-bound jigglefest Baywatch.

The script as it stands was written by Peter Tolan (Analyse This, Analyse That, Bedazzled), who has previously said that, "It's not based on the show in any way, though there are a couple of winks at the show... I don't know anything about the show. I didn't watch it in preparation for writing this."

The theory is that it's going to be more of a Stripes-like out-an-out comedy, but not in a campy way. How Garant's arrival will change things remains to be seen, but perhaps he'll do for The Hoff's show of shows what Reno 911! did for COPS (for British readers, think Police, Camera, Action!) and thoroughly skewer it (a decade after it last aired).

The question is, who should play the Hoff role - who's called Mitch Buchannon, fact fans - in this "modern" adaptation. Here is a poll to give you some suggestions, and after that, the theme tune you've already got stuck in your head.
