Bayona May Not Direct Eclipse After All

Seems like Eclipse, aka Twilight 3, may not have found its director just yet.

Yesterday we, along with virtually every movie website on the internets, reported that Summit Entertainment had put **The Orphanage **director Juan Antonio Bayona at the top of its shortlist to direct the vampire flick, which is due for release next June.

Yet, we may have spoken too soon. Says who? Erik Feig, president of production at Summit, that’s who. He spoke to LA Times’ correspondent Patrick Goldstein earlier today and disclosed that the mini-studio will be meeting with another three or four candidates before making a decision. “No one had been offered the job,” he said, which seems pretty conclusive.

However, we can’t help but feel that this may be a smokescreen by Summit and that Bayona will end up eventually signing on. After all, the news of his possible appointment has met with near-unanimous approval, with many feeling that he’s a much better fit for the material than either Catherine Hardwicke, director of the first Twilight, or Chris Weitz, who’s currently prepping the second movie, New Moon.

If Bayona doesn’t get the job, though, who would you like to see direct Eclipse? Our preference is for Nicky Clarke, perhaps the only man in the world who could get a good performance out of Robert Pattinson's massive hair.

Anyway, put your answers below, readers!
