Mirkins ahoy as the two bard dramas ruff it out at the 51st BAFTA awards. Weighing in at a bonecrushing 15 nominations is Shakespeare In Love against a not insubstantial 12 for Elizabeth. Tudor mania seems to be sweeping the industry at the moment threatening to steal the limelight from Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan. The Lock Stock crew might be able to stage a repeat of their rowdy performance at last week's Empire Awards when the ceremony takes place on April 11th as the film has been shortlisted as one of the best British films. The full shortlistings can be viewed at the official BAFTA site.
