As if two new promos on Superbowl Sunday weren't enough, here comes this week's third trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice. This is, we're told, positively the final one. And while previous sneak-peaks have focused on the dark and ominious and portentous aspects of the story, this one's keen to play up the idea that a massive brawl between the world's finest might just be, y'know, rock 'n' roll!
As you'll just have seen, we start with some classic Bat-action that looks rather as if Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne has been amped up by a session playing Arkham Knight and felt like putting it into real-world practice. And among re-tooled snippets that we've seen before, there's also some footage of Diana Prince - AKA Wonder Woman - incognito at a ball of some description. Is that an homage to the Keaton-Pfeiffer sequence in Batman Returns, where we learned a kiss can be deadly if you mean it?
Zack Snyder's latest finds the Man of Steel (Henry Cavill) criticised for the destruction wrought in his previous superhero outing, a new, hidden threat from Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and a more direct challenge from Batman, who figures Superman is an alien threat to humanity. And that's without all the other heroes, including Gal Gadot's aforementioned Wonder Woman.
