Rumours have long linked Katie Holmes with the upcoming Batman 5 but until now that's all they've been. A relief, then, that after much whispering and speculation it has been confirmed that the former Dawson's Creek star has been offered a role opposite Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan's take on the Caped Crusader. Joining Bale and Michael Caine's Alfred as the third actor cast, Holmes will play Batman's lady-love, Rachel. We'd like to tell you a little more about her character and her involvement in the story but sadly there's nothing to tell. Information on Batman 5 is more tightly secured than a safety deposit box bound in Sellotape so you'll just have to wait and see like everyone else. What we can tell you is that Holmes' offer is contingent on her passing muster in an upcoming screen test with Bale. But, as the only actress offered such a test, you can bet it's little more than a formality.
