Drew Barrymore will star as Barbarella in a new film, which she will also co-produce. But it won't be a direct remake of the 1968 cult classic, which starred Jane Fonda in the title role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Barrymore film will blend sci-fi with Woody Allen's 70s sex comedies and, like the original, will be based on comic books by the French author Jean Claude Forest. Barrymore willl play an innocent young woman who discovers a secret about life on her planet, and ends up leading a revolution. Barrymore will next be seen in another semi-remake, Charlie's Angels, alongside Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. It's released in the UK on November 24.
