It appears that most of Hollywood spent the weekend watching the ice hockey, because it's one of the slower news days in recent memory. However, the folks over at ComingSoon.net are reporting that the delightful Elizabeth Banks is set to star in Dark Fields opposite Bradley Cooper for director Neil Burger.
The story sees Cooper playing a copywriter called Eddie Spinola who gets his hands on a top-secret drug called MDT-48 that makes you smarter. He uses it to make himself successful, before learning that he should've read the small print about the long-lasting and potentially lethal side-effects (mysterious blackouts: never a good sigh), and that some very dodgy types are after his stash. We're guessing that Banks will play his ex-wife, with whom he's trying to reconnect, but only time will tell.
It's all based on the book by Irish writer Alan Glyn and adapted by The Thomas Crown Affair's Leslie Dixon. Think of it as Flowers For Algernon with more drug dealers and guns.
