Alec's 'fansite' plagued by hate mail

Poor old Alec Baldwin eh? Not only has he not had a decent role in ages, but now he's getting showered with abuse on his own website. The guestbook at AlecBaldwin.com has been temporarily shut down in an effort to stem to torrent of hate mail being posted by users. "Most of the offensive material has been political in nature," bemoans Baldwin on the site. "I find that rather disappointing considering the website was constructed plainly as a means to communicate with my audience about my work in films, television and theatre." The actor came under fire for his public threats to leave America if George W Bush was elected in 2000 and then completely failing to do so. Baldwin drew the ire of Florida Governor, and George's brother, Jeb Bush for his condemnatory comments about the then would-be president and, it would seem, the pro-Bush lobby - yes, apparently there is one - has now taken their righteous anger online. "Nearly all of the information that has been posted on this Guestbook is misinformation or disinformation, fueled by political extremists whose only goal is to harass and disrupt," Baldwin went on to say and has insisted that the site's guestbook will not be resurrected until safeguards that require e-mail registration are in place. Perhaps those offended by the star's presidential views might like to visit this site to better put things in perspective.
