Bad Luck Baz

What a nice bloke Peter Jackson is. While most people nominated for their first Oscar would spend the time dancing around proclaiming their greatness from the rooftops, Jackson is busy worrying about fellow directors who didn't make the final cut. Speaking to Variety's columnist Army Archerd, Jackson explains that he always felt that he and Baz were kindred spirits. 'I've always regarded [Rings and Moulin] as sister films, from New Zealand and Australia. And we both reinvented our two genres of film. No doubt about it, Moulin Rouge was a tour de force for him.' And as for being the one Antipodean that made it to the final five directors; 'It's one of those quirks (of the voting) that there's only going to be five,' Jackson explains. 'It's the rules of the game. And I do feel bad for Baz.'
