Kevin Bacon is oft underestimated but never knowingly underwhelming. So it's good news that he's joined the cast of Richard Loncraine's My One And Only, opposite Renee Zellweger.

The story is based on the real-life childhood experiences of George Hamilton, who went road-tripping with his mother (Zellweger) and little brother as she tried to find a rich man to support their family. Bacon will be playing the philandering band leader husband that she tries to leave behind.

Chris Noth, Nick Stahl and Logan Lerman are also starring, and shooting has just begun in Baltimore. The script is by Charlie Peters, screenwriter of 3 Men And A Little Lady and My Father The Hero (the American version) - make of that what you will. If you're gagging for a bit of Bacon in the meantime, you'll have to wait for Frost/Nixon later this year, or head down your local greasy spoon.
