Thanos might have spent much of the MCU thus far sitting on a giant floaty space chair, but Marvel is making no bones about how much trouble he’s going to cause when he finally comes face-to-face with The Avengers. If the trailer hadn’t already tipped you off, the official synopsis for Avengers: Infinity War confirms that it’s going to be one hell of a pile-on.
Cap and Iron Man had better start mending some bridges, because the arrival of the big purple guy is going to bring a ‘blitz of devastation’ with it.
Here’s the full plot outline: "An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their super hero allies must willing to sacrifice it all in an attempt to defeat the power of Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe."
One of the most worrisome words in there is ‘deadliest’, throwing petrol on the flames of fans worrying that some beloved characters might make their final appearance in Infinity War or its untitled follow-up. With some of the key cast’s contracts ending soon, nobody is safe.
Earlier this week, Anthony Mackie teased an action sequence in the film which will pitch 40 superheroes into one epic battle on Wakanda. The UK will get to see Avengers: Infinity War a whole week earlier than the US (sorry, Americans), when the film arrives on April 27.
