Captain America: Civil War is almost upon us, marking the second part of a discrete four-film sequence within the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. Co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo are already out doing the rounds for the film, and talk has naturally turned to their next two instalments: parts one and two of Avengers: Infinity War. And while you might have assumed that, shooting back-to-back as they are, both episodes represented two halves of a single movie, the Russos are promising they're actually very different films.

"I think it creates a misconception that we’re shooting them at the same time," Anthony tells i09. "The movies are very, very different from one another. It’s not a Part One and Part Two scenario, necessarily."

One of them's a slasher movie and the next one's a rom-com.

But we jest.

Elsewhere, Joe addresses the sheer volume of characters in the Infinity Wars films, juggling "probably triple" the line-up of Civil War. "Much of the groundwork has already been laid,” he explains. "That’s the truth. Doctor Strange will lay some more. Thor: Ragnarok will lay some more. But I think the majority of it is already there."

And with Civil War kicking off Marvel's Phase Three, overlord Kevin Feige has talked a little bit about the future beyond 2020. "It's still a big chess board," he teases, "but certainly I would say Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 is [one film that's] up there. I don't know what the exact order will be."

Captain America: Civil War is out in the UK on April 29. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives almost exactly a year later on April 28, 2017.
