Ever since Thanos did [REDACTED] at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been waiting to see how the fourth Avengers film would resolve… well, everything. And as it turns out, the actors don’t necessarily know either. Mark Ruffalo – one of the more loose-lipped members of the superhero team – has offered an interesting tidbit on the progress of Avengers 4, stating that while the two films shot back-to-back, the upcoming scheduled reshoots for the next film aren’t just to fill in the gaps, but to ‘finish the movie’.
“We’re doing reshoots starting in September,” Ruffalo said on The Marvelists podcast. “We don’t even know what [it’s] going to be yet. We’re not just doing reshoots, we’re going to finish the movie, which we really didn’t get to finish totally when we left it last year. […] I don’t even know that they really know exactly, some of it is happening while we’re there, it’s pretty amazing. We’ll shoot some stuff and a few days later come back and reshoot it because we want to take it in another direction. So it’s a very living organism, even as we approach it being a locked picture, we’re still working on it.”
With half of the universe hanging in the balance, it seems that Kevin Feige and the Russos are still working out exactly how Avengers 4 will wrap things up. Either that, or everyone else knows and Ruffalo is being kept in the dark to avoid the accidental spread of spoilers. Remember when he gave away the end of Infinity War in an interview way before the film was released? Or when he live streamed the audio from the first 10 minutes of Thor: Ragnarok on Instagram? The man cannot be trusted.
