David Lynch's 1984 adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune may not have struck critical or commercial gold, but it did leave the world with some abiding images. Chief among them is an oiled-up Sting in what can best be described as a large rubber codpiece as scheming Harkonnen warrior Feyd-Rautha. No idea whether Austin Butler will be slipping into something similar, but he is in talks to play the role in Dune: Part Two.
Denis Villeneuve's follow-up to his successful first adaptation last year has clearly hit the casting stage, since Florence Pugh is reportedly circling the role of Princess Irulan, daughter of Padishah Emperor Shaddam (who will also finally appear in the second movie.)
Feyd-Rautha is the conniving, sadistic younger nephew of Baron Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard), seen as the true heir to the family's power, which isn't well received by older brother "Beast" Rabban, as played by Dave Bautista.
Dune: Part Two will be shooting this year, and is scheduled for a 20 October 2023 release. Butler will next show up in the title role for Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, which will be out on 24 June.
