The fascination with stars and their lives has only intensified in the era of Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, and a new indie comedy will take a fresh look at the idea. Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen have signed on to star in Ingrid Goes West.
Plaza is on board to play the titular Ingrid, who becomes obsessed with Taylor Sloane (Olsen, presumably, though The Hollywood Reporter's story doesn't specify). Taylor (subtle, film folk, subtle) is a social media star who seemingly lives in a perfect world of parties, glamour and fun. So Ingrid decides to drop everything and head west to befriend her. But as she gets ever closer to the subject of her obsession, she comes more and more dangerous...
Matt Spiceris making his directorial debut with the movie, which has a script he wrote with David Branson Smith. The cameras are now rolling in Los Angeles.
Olsen reprised her role as Wanda Maximoff in Captain America: Civil War this year, and was also seen in I Saw The Light opposite Tom Hiddleston. She has indie thriller Wind River headed through post-production. Plaza will be back in our cinemas next week in Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates and has a role in X-Men spin-off TV series Legion, which should be with us next year.
