It’s a double dip day for possible Marvel movie casting, so let’s tackle the first: Ashley Hamilton, who is best known for, er, being George’s son and Rod Stewart’s step son, is in talks to play Firepower in** Iron Man 3**.
The character, also known as Jack Taggert, takes part in Project: Firepower, which aims to develop an armoured suit to match Tony Stark’s Iron Man duds. It’s not yet known what role the character and his armour will play in the film, but we doubt it’ll be good for Tony. Still, Firepower will also only be a minor part in the movie.
Though Taggert is a headache for our hero, if Hamilton signs on, he’ll have a good time on set, since he’s one of Robert Downey Jr’s mates… He doesn’t have the biggest acting resume, with work on US soap Sunset Beach, and episode of HBO’s Oz and a few movies, including Beethoven’s 2nd, among his credits. He’s been better known for his personal life, including failed marriages to Shannen Doherty and Angie Everhart. More recently, he competed on Dancing With The Stars and is a reporter for showbiz show Extra.
Shane Black co-wrote the script for Iron Man 3 with Drew Pearce and is now shooting the movie in North Carolina. Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle are back, with newcomers Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale and Rebecca Hall also aboard. Oh, and Jon Favreau tweeted a picture of his Happy Hogan chair on set today, which points to him popping up onscreen at some point. While he’s going to be visiting the set anyway as an executive producer, it really wouldn’t be** Iron Man** without him. And now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it's official: he's on board as Hogan. Happy day!
The film is scheduled to arrive on May 3 next year.
