*Disclaimer: It is a widely-held belief that movie websites, in an attempt to increase traffic, simply and cynically incorporate the words ‘Twilight’ or ‘New Moon’ into news stories, articles and features at least once a day, in the hope of showing up on search engines and thus luring in young, impressionable Twilight fans for a series of hits. Empire is aware of this sordid practice and wishes to distance itself from it. *

Twilight star Ashley Greene, who can be seen in the upcoming Twilight sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, has signed on to star in The Apparition, a supernatural thriller that will be nothing like Twilight or its sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Greene, who plays Alice Cullen in the Twilight franchise, will play one half of a young couple haunted by a malevolent spook, as opposed to her role in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, where she plays the sister of Robert Pattinson’s vampire, Edward Cullen. And it could be a breakout role for the 22 year-old star of Twilight.

Of course, The Apparition – which, lest ye forget, is nothing like Twilight, and has no vampires in it at all – seems, at first glance, to be one of the first of the inevitable stream of horror movies to try to capitalise upon the ginormous success of Paranormal Activity, another movie which is nothing like Twilight or The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Still, this one should be classier than most, for it’s being produced through Joel Silver’s Dark Castle label, with Silver – who, we imagine, has seen Twilight – on producing duties, along with Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona. We’re not sure if they’ve seen Twilight, but we’d imagine that they have.

Todd Lincoln Twilight will write and Twilight direct The Apparition (that’s not Twilight), with Twilight filming starting on February 1 Twilight Twilight TWILIGHT TWILIGHT!!!
