You might have thought he’d had enough of mucking about off-planet with Ender’s Game, but Asa Butterfield is looking to suit up again for a very different science fiction story. He’s set to star in Peter Chelsom’s new film **Out Of This World{ =nofollow}.

Chelsom, who last made Hector And The Search For Happiness, will work from a script originated by Allan Loeb that has since seen re-writes from the director and Tinker Lindsay. Out Of This World sees the human race finally colonising Mars with the help of a billionaire entrepreneur. When an astronaut is found to be pregnant, only to die during childbirth, her son is raised on the Red Planet in secrecy. After years spent communicating with a young woman back on Earth, the now-teenage lad (Butterfield) heads for the planet and a road trip to meet the father he never knew.

This one will likely shoot later this year, especially since he’s about to start work on Tim Burton’s latest, Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. He’ll also be seen in Ten Thousand Saints, which received a warm reception at last month’s Sundance Film Festival but doesn’t yet have a UK release.
