Arnold Schwarzenegger To Host US Celebrity Apprentice

With Donald Trump otherwise engaged with the small matter of his bid to become President of the United States, the US version of Celebrity Apprentice was in need of a new host. And now it has one. It's Arnold Schwarzenegger. Everyone has already made the "You're Terminated" joke.

The NBC show has been running for seven seasons with Trump. Like the Comic Relief and Sport Relief editions of the UK version, it involves celebrities working in teams to win challenges, with the lacklustre getting fired until there's only one person standing. Contestants have included Gary Busey, Andrew Dice Clay, Cyndi Lauper, Lou Ferrigno (shame that wasn't in an Arnie season), Steven Baldwin and Vivica Fox, with Piers Morgan, Arsenio Hall and Poison's Brett Michaels among the winners. You don't win a job, obviously. It's all for charity.

“We are thrilled to be opening a powerful new chapter in the story of the ‘Apprentice’ franchise,” Paul Telegdy, President of Alternative and Late Night Programming at NBC Entertainment said in a statement. “Arnold Schwarzenegger is the epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business, and his accomplishments in the political arena speak for themselves. It was Arnold’s personal passion for the format that Mark Burnett and Donald Trump built over the last decade, as well as his fresh take on how to take it to new heights for today’s audiences, that made him the man to hire.”

The Celebrity Apprentice usually airs at the start of the year, so while you might rather Arnold was getting on with Legend Of Conan or Triplets (or something else), he'll presumably be starting work on the show sooner.
