Governator muses movie comeback

Arnold May Return With Wings As Eagles

Those crazy Arnoldfans have picked up a snippet from Austrian site Krone, in which Schwarzenegger confirms he's looking seriously at **With Wings As Eagles as his potential screen comeback.

The script by Randall Wallace (Braveheart, We Were Soldiers, The Man In The Iron Mask) has been knocking around for a decade or so, with Wallace himself keen for Arnold to take on the central role of Ostermann, a German soldier in WWII going against orders to rescue prisoners of war. He says the former Governator would still be right for the role "well into his sixties".

"Extreme fighting and shooting isn't possible for me anymore," says Arnold. "In the future I'll need to pick my roles according to my age. Clint Eastwood did it the same way. In With Wings As Eagles I would play an older soldier, but the script still has all kinds of adventure."

It's by no means a done deal - Arnold also says he's looking at two other unnamed screenplays - but it's an indication of a comeback strategy that does not currently involve alien huntsmen, cyborgs, or mowing down waves of stuntmen to get to psychos in chainmail wifebeaters. Yes, it's a sad day. But with all eyes (each with an arched eyebrow) on his next move, and with none of the most recent entries on his CV a hit of anything like T2 proportions (millennial first comeback End Of Days, The Sixth Day, Collateral Damage) he'll be wanting to pick his next project *very *carefully.

Are you stoked at the prospect of a serious Arnold in a biblically-titled war film (It's from Isaiah: "They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint")? Or would you prefer True Lies 2? Give us your thoughts below.
