On the heels of performances in films such as Call Me By Your Name and Sorry To Bother You, Armie Hammer's career looked set to be chugging along nicely. Yet now, engulfed in a social media scandal, he's decided to drop out of upcoming romantic comedy drama Shotgun Wedding.
Hammer was to have starred opposite Jennifer Lopez in a film to be directed by Jason Moore. The story finds couple Darcy (Lopez) and Tom (Hammer, before he dropped out), who gather their lovable but very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding just as the pair begins to get cold feet. And if that wasn’t enough of a threat to the celebration, suddenly everyone’s lives are in danger when the entire party is taken hostage...
While we won't report on the specific allegations about Hammer, he addressed the matter in a statement. "I’m not responding to these bullshit claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic," he says. "Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that."
