Producers Avi and Ari Arad, currently juggling Marvel's movie roster as well as game adaptation Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, are banging out a deal for the urban superhero game inFAMOUS, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It'll be scripted by Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard, Up in the Air).
The PS3-exclusive inFAMOUS (look, it's not our fault, you're supposed to write it that way) sees bike messenger Cole McGrath suddenly given electricity-based superpowers when one of his packages explodes, devastating six city blocks. The gameplay is one of those "sandbox" worlds like Grand Theft Auto, and the player can choose to be good or evil, although that doesn't ultimately affect the story's outcome. Your powers increase as the game progresses, through jumping, shooting and puzzling. It is not unlike Activision's multi-platform Prototype.
"It was the first game I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," says Turner, which rather suggests that he hasn't played all that many. But we like him again as he continues "It is, at its core, a love ballad to the underachiever." Amen to that.
