University experiments usually relate to how much alcohol someone can drink before they vomit through their eyeballs. And then there is horror movie territory, where they put down the keg for five minutes to instead investigate the paranormal - usually with dire, scream-filled consequences. The latter concept goes some way to explaining The Apparition, which has released a trailer on Apple.
The film finds young couple Kelly (Twilight’s Ashley Greene) and Ben (Captain Americ****a’s Sebastian Stan) discovering scary things happening in their home. They learn that the cause is a nasty supernatural presence conjured up by a group of parapsychology students who were trying to prove their theory that ghosts and other phenomena can be created by the human mind. Way to go, nerds!
Soon our heroes are being ruthlessly stalked by the phantom, and turn to Patrick (Harry Potter’s Tom Felton), an expert in the supernatural, who tries to help by waving his wand suggesting ways to get rid of the danger. Trouble is, everyone really starts believing in the creature…
Blending trendy found footage with old-fashioned jump scares and girls being haunted while wearing fetching lingerie, The Apparition will be out in the US on August 24, and, one assumes, over here not too long after that.
