Jane Austen adaptation klaxon! The author's works are, for the most part, considered literary classics, which is why filmmakers and TV folk keep calling upon them like thirsty suitors. Emma has been brought to the screen several times itself, including the 1996 cinematic effort starring Gwyneth Paltrow and 2009's Beeb take featuring Romola Garai. Now here's Anya Taylor-Joy in the new film.

Photographer and music video director Autumn de Wilde makes her film debut with this one, with Eleanor Catton's script looking to give the story another new spin, while maintaining the period setting. Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse (Taylor-Joy) is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town. In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.
