Back in February 2019 (oh, the Before Times), we learned that Alexander Payne planned to make comedy-horror The Menu as his next film. It appears that Payne is no longer involved, but the movie is still going ahead, as Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes are in negotiations to star.
Will Tracy and Seth Reiss wrote the script, which focuses on a young couple (Taylor-Joy will play one-half of that duo) who visits an exclusive destination restaurant on a remote island where the acclaimed chef (Fiennes) has prepared a lavish tasting menu, along with some shocking surprises.
Mark Mylod, who has been one of the main directors on Succession (but also has films such as What's Your Number and Ali G Indahouse on his CV), is behind the camera for this one, which perhaps not-so-coincidentally boasts Adam McKay as one of its producers.
Searchlight is backing the film, but there are no details on when it'll start shooting yet.
