Since being part of the original Broadway cast for Hamilton lit a firework under his career, Anthony Ramos has worked with the likes of Spike Lee and appeared in such films as Patti Cake$ and A Star Is Born. He'll now reunite with the stage show's creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda for the movie musical adaptation of In The Heights.

Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu is making this his next project, working from a script by Quiara Alegría Hudes, itself based on the book, music and lyrics by Miranda. Set during the 4th of July weekend in Washington Heights, Heights follows bodega owner Usnavi (Ramos), who is preparing to return to the Dominican Republic. Even as he ponders his future, power blackout, romantic entanglements, financial tension and a winning lottery ticket sets the neighborhood’s inhabitants on a collision course.

The show was nominated for 13 Tony Awards and won four: Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography and Best Performance By A Leading Actor In A Musical for Miranda, who originated Usnavi both off and on Broadway.

Heights is currently scheduled to arrive on US screens on 26 June 2020, with no firm UK date just yet. Ramos will be seen in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, due out on 31 May next year.
