We've known since April that The Falcon And The Winter Soldier head writer Malcolm Spellman and fellow scribe Dalan Musson are at work on the script for a new Captain America movie. And with Anthony Mackie suiting up as the next Cap at the end of that show, it would seem only natural that he'd star in the movie. But this is Hollywood, and deals still have to be made, which has now happened: Mackie is officially aboard the movie.
In case you're wondering whether Marvel has made some big announcement... don't, because they haven't. But according to Deadline's sources, Mackie's signed on and hopefully being well compensated for his sterling work now and in future. Or to quote the man himself, "cut the cheque!"
There is no information yet as to whether Sebastian Stan will be back as Bucky Barnes, but we've got to hope the buddies will have more of a chance to swap witty banter and fight baddies together.
This new Cap movie will likely be one of the anchors of Phase Five for the MCU, but we naturally don't know when it might grace our screens. Up next for Marvel? Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, which is in cinemas on 3 September.
