Jeremy Renner isn’t the only actor doing well off the back of sterling work in The Hurt Locker. Co-star Anthony Mackie has been lining up roles all over Hollywood and is now apparently under consideration for both** World War Z** and Gangster Squad.

According to Variety, Mackie, last seen in The Adjustment Bureau, is the recipient of an offer to co-star with Brad Pitt in the movie based on Max Brooks’ epic zombie tome.

While the role that director Marc Forster wants him for hasn’t been divulged, if the takes the job he’ll join Pitt and recent announcement Mireille Enos in the film, which chronicles a devastating conflict against undead hordes from the perspective of 10 years after the event. Pitt’s UN worker travels the globe getting people to tell their harrowing stories of life as the plague spread and from the frontlines of the eventual war.

But Ruben Fleischer and Warners are also looking at Mackie as a likely part of Gangster Squad (which appears to have dropped its full title, Tales from the Gangster Squad, for now). If he takes that gig either in addition to or instead of World War Z, he’ll feature with Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin in the story of an elite LAPD team assigned to crack down on mobsters infesting 1940s Los Angeles.

Mackie’s been happily straddling various genres and blending big films with smaller indie work for years now – he’s filming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter at the moment and will be seen in both Real Steel and Man on a Ledge.
