Star Wars may be in a fallow period on the big screen, but in other media, it's surging. New virtual reality experience Tales From The Galaxy's Edge will take you into an adventure set within the confines of theme park-featured locale Black Spire on the planet Batuu. And along for the ride? Iconic droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, with Anthony Daniels reprising his role as the galaxy's most famous protocol droid. Check out the trailer...
"Along with the joy of working with the super-talented team at ILMxLAB, I am so thrilled to bring C-3PO to life again in this fascinating dimension," Daniels says in a statement. "I love it that fans will actually be able to be a part of his perilous adventures, standing beside him, on the distant planet of Batuu. It may be virtual reality, but believe me, reality will quickly take over as players personally interact with C-3PO right in the middle of the action. I hope fans will be as amazed as I am."
The experience will include the chance to play a droid repair technician who is swept up in a grand adventure on Batuu, including the chance to explore Seezelslak's (Bobby Moynihan) cantina and come face-to-face with Yoda. Tales From The Galaxy's Quest will debut on the Oculus Quest later this year.
In related Star Wars news, Adidas keeps releasing themed shoes to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, and it's now the turn of Chewbacca, via the Chewbacca Rivalry Hi. It'll be on the Adidas web store on 21 October and you can find an image below. We do sort of wish it was called a "Shewie"...
