Where most blockbuster franchises — including the Marvel Cinematic Universe — tend to grow bigger and bigger as they go on, Ant-Man offered a refreshing reprieve. Peyton Reed’s 2015 film culminated in a fight in a young girl’s bedroom, with the titular hero and the villainous Yellowjacket duking it out on a Thomas the Tank Engine play set. After the impossibly huge Avengers: Infinity War, it's up to Ant-Man and the Wasp — yes, Hope Van Dyne is finally suiting up and getting joint top-billing — to take things back down a few notches. While the stakes are there, the scale is once again on the refreshingly miniature end.

Empire has some new images from the film, as seen in the upcoming July issue. First up is Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp, seen in her diminutive state and sporting her handy pair of wings:

On the other end of the scale is Paul Rudd as Ant-Man — or, more accurately, Giant-Man — blown up to new heights as he continues to explore the enlarging abilities he experimented with in Civil War.

The superhero duo can be found on the front cover of the new Empire, which includes an interview with Lilly and Rudd all about Marvel’s super-shrunk sequel. Pick up the issue when it hits newsstands on Thursday June 14. Ant-Man and the Wasp hits UK cinemas on 3 August.
