Given that it has been shooting for weeks now, we didn’t expect Ant-Man to invite more new actors – especially those taking “pivotal roles” – to jump aboard. Yet that’s exactly what has happened, with Martin Donovan joining up{
**Ant-Man **will tell the tale of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), a criminal and former con man who is taken in by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Pym has a brilliant invention that allows a man to shrink to the size of an ant while increasing his strength hugely. With this, the two men have to pull off a huge heist in order to save the world.
Donovan’s role is being kept under wraps (this is Marvel, remember), but The Hollywood Reporter says he’s a crucial part of the story.
He joins a cast that already also includes Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Judy Greer, Michael Pena, John Slattery and Bobby Cannavale. Peyton Reed is the man directing the film, working from a script by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, with a release date set for July 15, 2015.
Donovan might be best known for his role on Weeds, though he’s a character acting stalwart who often works with Hal Hartley and will next be seen in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice, which will be with us on January 30.
