It is the fashion for leaks about Marvel movies right now, what with the Avengers: Age Of Ultron trailer emerging early a couple of weeks ago, and some new information arising about the sequel from an actor whose presence was not announced previously. Today brings word that Ant-Man, currently in production in Atlanta, will also be featuring a familiar face.
It goes without saying that if you don’t want to know who is set to make an appearance, you should skip the next paragraph, as it ventures firmly into spoiler territory, where a terrible gale howls a mournful cry against the fates letting details go free.
Still there? Right then. While the team at Latino Review got the scoop a little while ago, Project Casting has provided confirmation that Hayley Atwell’s Agent Peggy Carter – currently shooting her own TV series – will be in an Ant-Man scene. Presumably it’ll be a flashback where Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym meets the early incarnation of S.H.I.E.L.D. No details have emerged for the scene, as the casting breakdown that revealed the apparent appearance simply calls for a stand-in for Atwell to work one day this month. It will be interesting to see exactly when the scene is shot, as John Slattery is in the cast, presumably as Howard Stark, even though Dominic Cooper played him during Peggy’s time in **The First Avenger **and is back for the Carter TV drama.
So the cameo boosts an already sprawling cast that includes Douglas, Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Judy Greer, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale and Martin Donovan, amongst others. With Peyton Reed directing, Ant-Man is set to arrive here on July 17 next year.
